My fiction is still unpublished. I haven't written any more on my Lilith novel. It's been so long since I've looked at it that I need to re-read to get the feel of where I was. I still haven't heard anything about the two stories I've submitted. I think I'll have to go to the library and find a current Writer's Market for some magazine leads. I'm not really having much luck in the online sector.
I have had three more articles published at Associated Content for a whopping $11! I enjoy doing it (when I can come up with a topic), but sometimes it's kind of depressing to see how little upfront payment I get. If you want to check them out:

My current problem:
Getting back in the habit of writing. I was doing really well for a while, then all the visitors and vacations came along and blew my rhythm. I've been having a hard time getting that rhythm back.
My question this week:
I'm torn between wanting to get published and wanting to get paid. When trying to find places to publish my fiction, should I focus on places that will pay me or anyone that will take it?

I say aim high. While its ok to publish your stuff for free once in awhile to get your name out there, you want to be taken seriously. If a place pays you, that means they really want it whereas something that will publish it for free is more likely to just be willing to take it. By setting your standards high, you will improve your writing more and appear more professional.
I think it would depend on the circumstances, obviously not going through a vanity publisher for the sake of being published, but give some research and go for the best deal. But if you have an offer to be published and it is half decent take it.
I had the same problem a while ago and decided to concentrate on my novel writing. I stopped writing articles which didn't pay well and focused on what I really wanted to write. You need to ask yourself this question: which do you enjoy doing more?
I've actually just decided to start freelance writing and wondered the same thing. I guess it all depends. I'd say do a little bit of both. Just make sure the ones who aren't paying are reputable.

I enjoy doing the articles, when topics come easily. Which is about half the time. And I do get a little boost when I get a Paypal notification.
I think I'll keep the articles on a back burner. Maybe try to write two or three a week, but really focus on getting my novel finished.
I'd also like to get some short stories out there. Like I said in my post, I think I'll have to do some old fashioned library work to find some sources.
